Practicing Good Records Management - חלק II

Creating and Developing a Storage Plan

The storage plan is one of the most important factors in records management, as it will influence both the size of the system and the actual information retrieval procedures. Both short and long term storage plans are necessary, as well as their coordination. The housing of actual physical records and the storing of digital information, are both to be taken into account.

Organization and Disposal Decisions

The manager will be involved with decisions regarding the organization of records, their classification, when and how they should be stored and when they should be disposed of. This applies both to physical files and the organization, storing and archiving of digital files.

Access Policies

Access within the organization, as well as access by outside parties, should be authorized and supervised by the records manager. Monitoring of all files should be possible at all times, as well as a record of retrieval and usage history.
